Pengwern Boat Club Junior Squad

At Pengwern Boat Club we have a large and thriving junior section (ages 13 to 18). We aim to support and encourage all juniors whether they are aiming for the highest level (national representation) or simply enjoy rowing at a club level. We run a waiting list system so any potential junior wanting to join can put their name on the list and when a space becomes available they will be invited to come along.

We have a large team of club coaches who freely give up their time to help and encourage juniors to get the most they can out of the sport.

Juniors compete at local, regional and national events and participate in coaching camps and away days. We aim to make the learning process fun but we have a competitive approach and strive to reach high standards of fitness and rowing technique.

Beginners will attend once or twice a week with plenty of opportunity to race one another. More experienced rowers will attend 3 or 4 times a week and will race in local events and the most committed will be attending 6 days a week and will be aiming for national events.

Learning to row from an early age allows the acquisition of boat handling skils that those starting later in life can usually only dream of.
